Zbrush

This semester I was able to take a course in Zbrush. This program is pretty fun to use once you get the hang of it. So here are my assignments that I've done so far.

Our first assignment was just to create a head of a character, so I took the design of this bird from my sketchbook.

Next was to make a maquette of a character on a base. This little gryphon was the result.

And finally my last complete project was to create a toy. This tiger (or tie-ger) comes with a mouse toy/companion and various accessories for both. His legs are positionable and both his head and tail rotate.

Deadly Nadder

This is a big project I've been working on for about 5 months now. It's a large puppet/costume of the Deadly Nadder from How to Train Your Dragon. I absolutely love this movie and I thought it would be an excellent excuse to create another new puppet. Soon I'll be posting a video of how he works too.

This is his head when it was about 75% done

This is the whole costume as it stands right now. It breaks down into 6 nice sized pieces, so its easier to store in my apartment. His mouth opens and closes, the wings flap, his tail is slightly articulated, and the feet contain two stilts (about 12" high) so that the proportions match up to the dragon in the movie.

This is the almost completely finished head. The entire base is made from cushion foam and covered with fabric and the rig is made from several wooden dowels and pvc pipes. And we have decided to name him Jeff.
