Handouts

I figure that now that I'm living in Burbank and so close to all these amazing studios, I should do something special. So I decided to make these special folders, not just to show the studios my art, but to also give them my new information.

This is the first folder I made and you can see it looks like a normal folder from the outside.

But once you open it, it looks like this.

This one was made for Nickelodeon Studios. It's made mostly of paper with a bit of gouache here and there. You can see my updated resume is behind the back panel. And my business card is up front and detachable.

Here are some details of the piece.

Everything folds up so that it's almost completely flat.

Sick Days Craft Project

I've been out with a bad cold for the past few days and I barricaded myself into my apartment in hopes of not getting anyone else sick. So to keep myself busy, I decided to do some little craft projects.

This is my favorite that I've done so far. It's a wall decal made from transparent Contact covering based on Disney's Peter Pan. Disney has always been a huge inspiration to me and one of the main reasons I became an artist. So now every time I look at my wall, I feel a little bit more of the Disney magic.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I've been wanting to do some sort of fan art for Paperman since I first saw the short and Valentine's Day seemed like the perfect opportunity.

This is the final result. It's a combination of paper and gouache. Paperman fan art made from paper. >>

Here's a detail shot of the two lovebirds.

Happy New Year!

I felt really inspired to make something after attending the "Women in Animation" show opening and seeing all the amazing art there. So I decided to make a paper cut out for the Chinese New Year, which just so happens was the next day.

This was the result. It's entirely paper, with a little gouache for some details.

I've always enjoyed Chinese art, especially their paper cut outs, so I wanted to incorporate that into this piece.

The sign on the snake head is the Chinese symbol "Fu" which means "blessing, good fortune, good luck" in the new year.

Just a Quick Update

I just wanted to share some exciting news with everyone! These past few weeks I've been in the process of moving across the country. Now I have my own apartment in Burbank, CA! I'm still looking for work out here but I love it out here so much that I'm going to try and have some fun as well. Thank you for your support and your kind thoughts!

Photoshop

This was supposed to be a quick painting but I ended up getting a little too involved in it. It was great to experiment with dramatic lighting though!
